On Sunday October 30, 2011, the Dallas Cowboys will visit the Philadelphia Eagles. Get your popcorn ready because this gridiron brawl will be in primetime. The Eagles have the home field edge. But here are some reasons why the Cowboys can win.
The Cowboys Can Run if They Want to
The Cowboys may have a star in the making. Last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, rookie running back DeMarco Murray had a record-setting coming out party with 253 yards rushing. Murray did not even start the game. He will certainly start this Sunday against the Eagles. Even If Murray gets just half of those yards this week, the Cowboys will benefit. Their new found running game makes the offense even better. It becomes less predictable. More importantly, it takes pressure off quarterback Tony Romo. If Murray is the real deal, the Cowboys' offense can become one of the best in the National Football League (NFL).
The Cowboys Play Defense
The Cowboys are playing defense this year. The defense is ranked seventh in total yards allowed per game. They are first in rushing yards allowed per game. They are also ranked eighth in sacks. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has really revived the defense this season. The Eagles have just one win against a top defense this season. That was a close game against the Washington Redskins in Week 6.
The Eagles' Defense is Okay
The Eagles do a good job defending the pass. But they are somewhat average in other areas. The Eagles allow 124 rushing yards per game (tenth worst). They allow 341 total yards and 24 points per game. If the Cowboys run like they did last Sunday, they will score points against this Eagles defense.
This will be a close game. The Cowboys and Eagles have good offenses. But the Cowboys defense is better. That is how the Cowboys can win this game. If Murray runs roughshod again, then give the Cowboys the offensive edge too. Are the Cowboys ready to step up to the next level? Are the Eagles finally on the right track? We will find out on Sunday.

Edwin Torres has been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since the days of Tony Dorsett and Roger Staubach. He enjoyed watching the Dallas teams of the 90s dominate opponents on both sides of the ball. Living in New Jersey, he is sandwiched between Giants and Eagles fans. But that has never deterred him from being a fan of America's team.
