The Arizona Cardinals rallied in the second half last week to eventually score a victory over the Dallas Cowboys in overtime. It was the second time in three games the defense has been exploited in the second half.
But as David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports, Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan doesn’t believe there is a big problem brewing for his unit. Ryan pointed out the Cowboys have surrendered more than 20 points just once in the last five games.
“Guys, honestly now, I mean, they had a couple of drives there, but with 10 points in a half, that's not anything to jump off a building for,” Ryan said. “I mean, although people around here are. But don't worry, they won't be this week or any other week.
“We're ready to go. We're excited about this challenge. If you want numbers out there, hell, we're in the top 10 in scoring defense, run defense, takeaways and sacks. That's usually pretty good.”
If the Cowboys (7-5) can’t find a way to hang on to their lead in the NFC East this weekend, people might start jumping off some of those buildings. They host the New York Giants (6-6) on Sunday night. It’s the first of four meetings between the rivals in the final four games. A victory by the Cowboys would give them a two-game edge with three to play. A loss and the thing will be deadlocked.
The statistics going into this game don’t mean a whole lot. It’s all about how Ryan’s defense performs against Eli Manning.
