Dave Campo will not return as the secondary coach for the Dallas Cowboys.

The contract of the veteran assistant expires this month and Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Campo’s departure will be the first step in repairing a pass defense that was horrendous this season.

New defensive coordinator Rob Ryan’s system was a problem for the Cowboys, who were consistently shredded through the air. Dallas surrendered 3,906 yards passing, the second-most in franchise history. The 24 passing touchdowns allowed were a team record.

Per the report, the rest of the coaching staff is set to return “as of now.”
