St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford went down with a high ankle sprain last weekend and has been clumping around in a walking boot since then.
If the game against the Dallas Cowboys had taken place Thursday, Bradford wouldn't have played, a source to NFL.com shared, but the team will wait till Sunday to finally decide if he will be in the lineup or not.
"The hope early in the week was Bradford could play with a high ankle sprain," the source told the site, but "after Bradford missed his second consecutive practice Thursday, it appears playing Sunday is less likely."
High ankle sprains are known to put players on the bench for up to a month but Bradford said the ankle is feeling better and playing is mostly about "pain tolerance," NFL.com reports.
The site also notes that this game is the closest one the Rams play to Bradford's birthplace of Oklahoma City, which is providing extra incentive to him to get back onto the field: "I've had this Dallas game circled for a while now, knowing that it's about as close to home as I get," Bradford said, the site reports. "It'd mean a lot for me to play down there, so hopefully I'll be ready."
