Each week, I pick National Football League (NFL) games against the spread. Below is a recap of my picks from last week, along with my picks for this week.
Last Week
It took 16 weeks, but I finally I got my first perfect week (3-0). My record is now 29-24. Here are my picks for this week.
Dallas Cowboys (8-7) at New York Giants (8-7); Line: Giants by 3
This is an unofficial playoff game for the Giants and Cowboys. The winner takes the NFC East, while the loser watches the playoffs from home. Those of you who read this column each week know that I am a Cowboys fan. I have felt the many heartbreaking moments this season. I fear another one is coming this week. Both the Giants and Cowboys have been unable to gain the upper hand in the division. This game will finally end the futility that is the NFC East. It will be a tough one for the Cowboys. Playing at MetLife Stadium in December is not easy. Both teams have been inconsistent this season. But I think Giants quarterback Eli Manning will be the difference. I hope I am wrong. Pick: Giants -3. Giants 24, Cowboys 20.
Buffalo Bills (6-9) at New England Patriots (12-3); Line: Patriots by 12 1/2
A win by the Patriots gives them home-field throughout the playoffs. A win by the Bills gives them nothing but pride. I think the Bills will play well in this game. They have absolutely no pressure in this game and they want to finish the season on a high note. The Bills also defeated the Patriots back in Week 3. These two teams are AFC East rivals. The Bills are not going to hand the Patriots the game. For all these reasons, I think the game will be close enough. However, the Patriots will still win. Pick: Bills +12 1/2. Patriots 34, Bills 23.
Indianapolis Colts (2-13) at Jacksonville Jaguars (4-11); Line: Jaguars by 4
Give the Colts credit for winning two games in a row. That streak ends this week against the Jaguars. The Colts can clinch the top pick in the 2012 NFL Draft with a loss. I see the Colts quietly and subtly tanking this game against the Jaguars. They are playing away, so nobody will fault them for losing this game. The Jaguars are a better team. They will play like the better team this week. Pick: Jaguars -4. Jaguars 20, Colts 13.
