The advantage of playing on Thanksgiving Day – or any Thursday – is the short week of preparation is followed by a long one. It provides almost a mini bye week for the players, sometimes a welcome relief.

But not even extra time off was enough to help wide receiver Miles Austin get back on the field when the Dallas Cowboys returned to practice today following their weekend off. Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reports that Austin remains sidelined with his pesky hamstring injury.

Austin was doing rehab work on the side during the practice and he’s missed three consecutive games with the Cowboys in the thick of the NFC East race.

The good news was cornerback Mike Jenkins, who also had a pulled hamstring, was back in action. He’s missed four games in a row but did partial work and said he plans to practice fully on Wednesday as the Cowboys gear up to play the Cardinals on Sunday in Glendale, Ariz.
