The Dallas Cowboys selected running back DeMarco Murray in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was the 71st pick overall. Here's a quick look at the Cowboys' newest running back.

Murray was a finalist for the cover of the EA Sports NCAA Football 12 video game. The winner was Mark Ingram .

Recent Achievements

Murray played four years of college football for the Oklahoma Sooners. In 2010, he rushed 282 times for 1,214 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had 71 receptions for 594 yards and 5 touchdowns. His best rushing performance was on Sep 04, 2010 when he rushed for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns against Utah State. He had his best receiving performance on Nov 14, 2009 when he caught 5 passes for 143 yards against Texas A&M. At the NFL Combine, he posted a 4.37 40-yard dash (tied for first). Murray was considered the 4th best running back by some scouts.

Running style

Murray can do a lot of things on the field. He is an elusive back. He can run inside and outside. He has the speed to get to the corners. He can catch the ball well. Murray is also a good blocker. He is a versatile running back (highlights).

Injury concern

Injuries are a major concern with Murray. He dealt with turf toe in his redshirt season. On Nov 11, 2007, he dislocated his knee cap in a game against Texas Tech. That forced him to miss the rest of the season. On Dec 22, 2008, Murray underwent surgery to repair his left hamstring. He missed the BCS National Championship game because of the injury. He missed two games in 2009 with a sprained left ankle. In Dec 2010, Murray injured his knee in a game against Oklahoma State. His status for the Big 12 title game was uncertain. However, he did end up playing in the title game.

Current preparation

Murray is currently working out with former teammates like Sam Bradford and Roy Williams. He intends to go to Frisco, Texas to train in the next two weeks. At the moment, Murray is healthy and injury free.
