EAGLES-VIKINGS MOVED TO TUESDAY NIGHT

Score another win for Mother Nature in her 2010 battle against the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles-Minnesota Vikings Sunday night game has been moved to Tuesday at 8:00pm due to a blizzard that is expected to dump close to a foot of snow on the City of Brotherly Love between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

The main reason for the schedule adjustment is the league’s concern for fan safety. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has already declared a snow emergency in Philly and the NFL is worried about the safety of fans trying to travel to and from Lincoln Financial Field in blizzard conditions.

This now marks the third consecutive week that the Minnesota Vikings have had a weather issue affect the location and or date of their game. The Metrodome roof collapsed two weeks ago, forcing the Vikings-Giants’ Week 14 game to be played in Detroit on Monday night. Last Monday, the Vikings and Bears played their NFC North divisional showdown at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis because the damage caused at the Metrodome could not be repaired in time for kickoff.

For the Eagles, the move to Tuesday night could cause an issue for their Week 17 home date with the Dallas Cowboys. The Birds are currently trying to overtake the Chicago Bears for the No. 2 seed in the NFC, but the short rest could cause some issues for the team heading into their regular-season finale.

However, with the way the Cowboys played in Arizona on Saturday night, even a shortened practice week for Philly probably won’t be enough to help Big D pull off an upset.
