The Miami Dolphins are still hunting for a new head coach and ProFootballTalk reports that there's "increasing chatter in league circles" that the Dolphins are leaning toward hiring 55-year-old Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.
As PFT points out, Zimmer worked with Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland from 2001 through 2006 when they were both getting paychecks from the Dallas Cowboys.
According to the site, Zimmer is also up for the head-coaching opening with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A league source tells the Miami Herald that the Dolphins will interview 39-year-old Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy this week.
Another candidate that has been discussed internally and could be interviewed is New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, the paper notes. Also, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin may be brought in for a second interview.
