Rumors have floated this offseason that the Dallas Cowboys might be thinking about ditching veteran wide receiver Roy Williams due to how much cash he's costing them. But it isn't likely to happen via release, DallasCowboys.com reports, because the team would still need to shell out $12.9 million to Williams if it chose that option.
The site points out that Williams was doing well last season until Tony Romo went down with a broken clavicle. Perhaps he will return to form with Romo back at the helm.
The 31-year-old Williams, who went to the Pro Bowl in 2006 when he was with the Detroit Lions, had five touchdowns and gained 530 yards receiving last season.
