Chicago Bears running back Marion Barber hasn't practiced since suffering a calf injury in the first half of the Aug. 27 preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. And now it appears "unlikely" that he'll be ready to go for Sunday's season-opening game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
''We're running out of time a little bit for Marion,'' coach Lovie Smith said, the paper reports. ''But he's feeling a little better. So hopefully we'll be able to get him on the field before long.''
The 28-year-old Barber has spent his whole career with the Dallas Cowboys. Last year, he appeared in 13 games, rushing for 374 yards and four touchdowns.
